Every Marvel Disney+ Series, Placed in the MCU Timeline

The Disney+ series are where the MCU's chronology gets genuinely difficult, because they were released in an order that has almost nothing to do with when they happen. WandaVision came first and is set three weeks after Endgame. Ms. Marvel came fifth and is set two years later. Loki came third and is not set anywhere.

Here is where each one actually sits.

The Main-Timeline Series, In Order

The Series That Are Not On the Timeline

Four shows sit outside the main continuity, and treating them as part of it is how people end up convinced the MCU has no chronology at all.

• Loki — outside time, at the TVA, branching from 2012 during Endgame's time heist. Both seasons. There is no year to assign.
• What If…? — multiple alternate timelines branching from across the MCU's history, narrated by the Watcher.
• Marvel Zombies — an alternate universe branching from What If…? season one's zombie episode. Four episodes, TV-MA, released 24 September 2025.
• Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man — an alternate reality distinct from the main timeline, though Doctor Strange appears in the premiere. Season two arrives in autumn 2026 introducing Gwen Stacy and Venom.
• X-Men '97 — 1997 onward in the continuity of X-Men: The Animated Series, outside the MCU's numbered phases entirely. Season two premiered 1 July 2026.

The Three Placements That Cause Arguments

1. WandaVision is only three weeks after Endgame, which means Wanda arrives in Westview almost immediately after the Battle of Earth. The nine-day timespan of the show itself makes the sequence tighter than most viewers assume.
2. Secret Invasion is set in 2026, after Ms. Marvel, which places it later than its 2023 release implies — and directly before The Marvels, which it sets up.
3. Daredevil: Born Again does not sit at a single point. It runs from 2026 onward across its seasons, with season two premiering in March 2026 to near-perfect reviews and a third season already greenlit.

Where the 2026 Series Land

Two Disney+ projects define the current year. Wonder Man premiered 27 January 2026, ran eight episodes, scored 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, topped the Disney+ charts and has been renewed for a second season — the strongest debut Marvel television has had in years. And Vision Quest arrives 14 October 2026 with Terry Matalas as showrunner, Paul Bettany returning, James Spader back as Ultron and James D'Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S.

Marvel has not published an in-universe year for Vision Quest. What is established is that it follows WandaVision and Agatha All Along, with White Vision reconstructing the memories he regained in 2023 and then walked away with. Our theory piece on the series works through what that setup implies.

Marvel's television has spent five years filling in the years the films skipped. Nearly every series on this list exists in the space between 2023 and 2027.

Why Release Order and Story Order Diverged So Badly

There is a production reason for the mess, and it is worth understanding rather than complaining about. Marvel commissioned its first wave of Disney+ series in parallel rather than in sequence, with separate writers' rooms working from a shared bible instead of from each other's scripts. WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki were developed simultaneously, which is why they share a phase and a launch year but no chronological logic at all.

The second wave behaved differently. Echo grew directly out of Hawkeye, Agatha All Along out of WandaVision, and Daredevil: Born Again out of a Netflix run that predates the Disney+ era entirely. That is a slate that has learned to build sequentially — and it is why the 2025 and 2026 series slot into the timeline far more cleanly than the 2021 cohort ever did.

The Series That Went Dormant

Not every thread is live, and an honest placement guide should say so. Echo has had no follow-up since March 2024. Secret Invasion remains the lowest-rated MCU series at 53% and its consequences have not been meaningfully picked up. Ironheart scored 86% and introduced Mephisto to the MCU in June 2025, and no continuation has been announced — a gap our Mephisto analysis takes seriously.

How to Actually Watch Them

If you are integrating the series into a film rewatch, insert WandaVision after Endgame, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier before Far From Home, Hawkeye after No Way Home, and the 2025 and 2026 series in the block between Love and Thunder and Brave New World.
