WandaVision Easter Eggs: Every Sitcom Homage, Fake Advert And Comic Reference Decoded

WandaVision is built as a series of nested references, and unusually for Marvel almost all of them are load-bearing. The sitcom pastiches track Wanda's psychological state. The fake adverts are her trauma leaking through the format. And the show's biggest reveal is a musical number. Here is the full catalogue of what is verifiably in there.

The sitcom decades

The escalation is the point. Wanda is not reproducing television she loves at random; the eras move forward as her control degrades, and by the mockumentary episode she is being interviewed about a reality she is barely maintaining. The production recreated period-correct lenses, aspect ratios and even shot on a live studio audience set for the earliest episodes.

The six fake commercials

1. ToastMate 2000, by Stark Industries. It ticks like a bomb with a blinking red light, and the tagline tells you to forget the past. Wanda's parents were killed by a Stark Industries shell.
2. The Strucker watch. The logo on the face is HYDRA's. Baron Strucker ran the experiments that gave Wanda and Pietro their powers.
3. HYDRA Soak bath salts, promising to help you find the goddess within. The Mind Stone experiments, sold as self-care.
4. Lagos paper towels, for when you make a mess you did not mean to. Lagos is where Wanda's containment of an explosion killed civilians in Captain America: Civil War, the incident that triggered the Sokovia Accords.
5. Nexus, an antidepressant that anchors you back to your reality. Nexus beings are a comics concept, and the name reappears in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
6. Yo-Magic yogurt, in which a boy starves to death waiting to open the container. It airs as Wanda's control collapses, and it is the darkest thirty seconds Marvel has produced.

Every advert is a memory Wanda cannot process, dressed up as something you can buy.

The comics references

Agatha Harkness

Agnes is Agatha Harkness, and the reveal is delivered via an original song by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez that immediately went to number one on iTunes. In the comics Agatha is Wanda's magical mentor and, separately, Franklin Richards' nanny, which is a link worth remembering now that the Fantastic Four are in the MCU.

Billy and Tommy

The twins are Wiccan and Speed, founding members of the Young Avengers. Billy's reality-warping and Tommy's super-speed are both comics-accurate, and Billy has since returned in Agatha All Along.

Sparky

The dog is not a random gag. In Steve Englehart and Richard Howell's The Vision and the Scarlet Witch, Wanda and Vision have a dog named Sparky. The show kills him to make a point about Wanda's inability to accept loss.

The Halloween costumes

Episode 6 puts all four Maximoffs in comic-accurate outfits: Wanda's red headdress-and-corset Scarlet Witch look, Vision's green-and-yellow bodysuit, Pietro's blue-and-white Quicksilver suit and Billy's Wiccan cape. It is the only time the classic Scarlet Witch design appears before the finale makes it real.

White Vision

Tyler Hayward's Project Cataract reassembles Vision as a colourless android, which is straight out of the West Coast Avengers arc known as Vision Quest. Marvel has since named its 2026 Disney+ series after it: Vision Quest arrives on 14 October 2026 with Paul Bettany returning, James Spader back as Ultron and James D'Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S.

Ralph Bohner

Evan Peters, who played Quicksilver in the Fox X-Men films, turns up as Pietro and is eventually revealed as a mind-controlled neighbour named Ralph Bohner. Marvel has consistently maintained this was always a joke rather than a mutant crossover, which did not stop it becoming the most argued-about casting decision of 2021.

The background details

• The S.W.O.R.D. logo appears on the toy helicopter in colour before Wanda has restored colour to the world, the first crack in the illusion.
• The beekeeper who climbs out of the sewer in episode 2 is a S.W.O.R.D. agent in a hazmat suit, and the imagery is deliberately more unsettling than the reveal.
• Jimmy Woo returns from Ant-Man and the Wasp, and the card trick pays off his stated interest in close-up magic from that film.
• Darcy Lewis, last seen in the Thor films, is now Doctor Lewis, which the show treats as an overdue promotion.
• Monica Rambeau's exposure to the Hex gives her the powers that make her Photon, an identity her comics counterpart has carried under several names.
• The mid-credits of the finale has a Skrull tell Monica that an old friend of her mother's wants to meet her, setting up her arrival in The Marvels.

What we left out

WandaVision generated an enormous amount of fan cataloguing during its weekly run, and a lot of it did not survive contact with the finale. We have not included the alleged Mephisto foreshadowing, the supposed Nightmare references, or the various claimed hidden names on background props, because none of those were confirmed and most were wrong. If you want the actual devil in the MCU, Mephisto's real debut happened in Ironheart in 2025, not here.
