Biography
Agony is one of the five symbiotes the Life Foundation forcibly extracted from Venom to create bodyguards for their doomsday bunkers — alongside Riot, Phage, Lasher and Scream. Bonded to security operative Leslie Gesneria, Agony's speciality is acid: it secretes corrosive chemicals capable of eating through metal, and its purple biomass gives it Venom-class strength without Venom's history of conscience.
The Life Foundation Five have proven far more durable than the throwaway origin suggests. Four of them, Agony included, were later merged into the single symbiote Hybrid bonded to prison guard Scott Washington, and the individual symbiotes were reactivated during Absolute Carnage and King in Black. Riot's film appearance in Venom (2018) put the group on screen, and Agony remains a fan favourite among the deeper symbiote cuts.

Comics history
Agony debuted in Venom: Lethal Protector (1993), the miniseries that moved Eddie Brock to San Francisco and introduced the Life Foundation symbiotes. Marvel later merged Agony, Phage, Lasher and Riot into the composite symbiote Hybrid, and revived the individual symbiotes for Absolute Carnage and King in Black, where the entire Life Foundation line-up became relevant again.
